2004 Nobel Laureate in Economics Visits UCONNThe Association of Graduate Economics Students (AGES) and the Department of Economics proudly announce the visit of the 2004 Nobel Prize Winner in Economics, Professor Finn E. Kydland, the Henley Endowed Chair in Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Kydland received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught until 2004. The UCONN economics department is proud to have one of Kydland’s former PhD students, Christian Zimmermann, working as an associate professor. Professor Zimmermann invited Professor Kydland to visit UCONN and meet with economics graduate students. In 2004, Professor Kydland was awarded the Nobel Prize jointly with Edward Prescott (Arizona State University). In their work, they analyzed the design of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles. They have not only transformed the methodology of economic research, but also have profoundly influenced the practice of economic policy in general, and monetary policy in particular. Professor Kydland gave a lecture entitled “What makes a good researcher?” at the Dodd Center's Konover Auditorium on the 19th of October. Contact
